Well, at least one state saw a reduction in crashes over the Labor Day Holiday.  Ohio reported fewer crashes than last year.  Pennsylvania had 6 fatalities with 4 involving alcohol.  It's hard to believe with all of the messaging that people would still choose to drive impaired.

PMTA Road Team members, member companies and their drivers, and safety professionals from member companies came together on Friday August 26, 2022 to present a positive image of trucking to the current class of State Police Cadets.  Information on all aspects of the industry as well as the types of trucks they will encounter on the highway were highlighted.  We couldn't do this without our awesome member companies giving up their equipment and drivers for the day.  Thanks to all!

It's that time again sports fans.  Please look out for the miniature humans waiting for the big yellow buses.  They are unpredictable and usually are not paying attention to dangerous things like traffic.  You must stop for school buses when traveling in both directions unless there is a physical barrier such as a wall between opposite traffic lanes.  Even then you should proceed with caution.  Stay safe.

I had a great day with the crew at Riverlift on Monday August 8, 2022.  John Chadwick had me do some review of the safety regulations on Load Securement, Hours of Service and the importance of Pre and Post trip inspections.  They all made me feel right at home.  Not only did we have a great time discussing the regulations and a few other subjects but John put on a great feed with the best tasting burgers I've had in a long time!  Thanks Riverlift.  You have an awesome and unique operation.

ATRI is asking drivers to give their opinions on driver facing cameras in an on-line survey.  This is another good way for drivers to be involved in the regulatory process.

I had a great morning with the crew at Yellow Freight in Ben Salem.  Ed Cunningham reached a milestone and operating in the environment in which he does every day it is astounding!  He just doesn't put himself in harms way.  The guys were ribbing him saying it's not hard to be safe in McDonalds parking lots.  They apparently haven't frequented McDonalds lately.  It was all in good fun and just showcases the strong relationship these drivers have.  I enjoyed our conversation and some "real" bagels.  Congratulations Ed!
